Keynote Speaker- Joyce valenza
After 25 years of joyful practice as a teacher-librarian in K12 education (in the Wissahickon and Springfield Township Districts), and several more as a public and special librarian, Joyce joined the faculty of Rutgers University where she prepares future librarians to lead cultures of literacy and engage communities.
Joyce writes the NeverendingSearch Blog for School Library Journal and contributes to several other library and edtech publications. She speaks globally about the thoughtful use of technology in learning and the power of librarians to lead.
Joyce has been honored as the AASL 2017 Social Media Luminary, with the AASL 2019 Distinguished Service Award, as a PSLA Outstanding Contributor and with the PSLA Outstanding Individual Library Program of the Year Award.
Her research interests include: school librarianship, youth information seeking, educational technology, social media curation, OER, emerging literacies, social media and online communities of practice.
Keynote Author- A.S. King
A.S. King has been called “One of the best Y.A. writers working today” by the New York Times Book Review. King is the author of novels including DIG, Still Life with Tornado, 2015’s surrealist I Crawl Through It, Glory O'Brien's History of the Future, the 2012 Los Angeles Times Book Prize winner Ask the Passengers, 2011 Michael L. Printz Honor Book Please Ignore Vera Dietz among others. She also writes middle grade fiction as Amy Sarig King, and most recently released The Year We Fell From Space. She is a faculty member of the Writing for Children and Young Adults MFA program at Vermont College of Fine Arts and spends many months of the year traveling the country speaking to high school students about trauma, emotions, and red velvet cake. After fifteen years living self-sufficiently and teaching literacy to adults in Ireland, she now lives in Pennsylvania.
